கோயிலுக்கு செல்கிறார் கருணாநிதி

தமிழக முதல்வர் கருணாநிதி வேலூரை அடுத்துள்ள திருமலைக்கோடியில் அமைந்துள்ள ஆலயத்தில் நடைபெறும் நலத்திட்ட உதவி வழங்கும் விழாவில் பங்கேற்கிறார்.

வேலூரில் "தங்கக் கோயில்' என அழைக் கப்படும் ஸ்ரீ லட்சுமி நாராயணி ஆலயத்துக்கு வரும் 16-ம் தேதி செல்லும் அவர், இதய நோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு அறுவை சிகிச்சைக் காக காத்திருக்கும் 320 ஏழை குழந்தைகளுக்கு ரூ.30 ஆயிரம் முதல் ரூ.50 ஆயிரம் வரையி லான நிதியுதவியை வழங்கவுள்ளார்.

முதல்வர் கருணாநிதி தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் பகுத்தறிவாளராக இருந்தாலும் ஆன்மிகத் தலைவர்களைச் சந்தித்து சமூக நலப் பணிகளுக் கான திட்டங்களை ஏற்கத் தயங்குவதில்லை.
சென்னைக்குக் கிருஷ்ணா நீர் கிடைக்க ரூ.200 கோடியில் திட்டம் நிறைவேற நன்கொடை அளித்து உதவிய சத்திய சாய்பாபாவுடன் ஒரே மேடையில் கலந்து கொண்டார் முதல்வர். அத்து டன், சுனாமி பாதித்த மக்களுக்கு வீட்டு வசதி செய்து தந்த மாதா அமிர்தானந்தமயி பங்கேற்ற நிகழ்ச்சியிலும் கலந்து கொண்டார்.

MK to visit Vellore temple


Chennai, Feb. 10: Tamil Nadu’s atheist Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will visit Vellore on February 16 to take part a function at Sri Lakshmi Narayani Amman Golden temple to distribute financial assistance to 320 children for heart surgeries. The chief minister who had earlier shared the dais with religious figures Sri Sathya Sabi Baba and Mata Amritanandamayi for public causes will attend a function at Vellore with Sri Sakthi Amma, the founder of Sri Narayani Peedam, that was instrumental in constructing a golden temple in a100-acre complex at a place called Sripuram.

In January last year the chief minister attended a mega function in Chennai to thank Sri Sa Baba for the help extended by the Sai Baba Trust for relining of Telugu Ganga canal from Kandaleru in Andhra Pradesh to bring drinking water to Chennai at a cost of Rs 200 crore. Sai Baba himself visited the chief minister at his residence and invited him for the function.

In February, 2007 the chief minister visited Nagapattinam where he shared a dais with Mata Amritanandamayi to hand over the keys of houses built by her Trust for tsunami victims. In Vellore the chief minister will hand over cheques to children who are in need of heart surgeries. “We have selected children across the state and other states. The assistance will range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. We also have tie-up with some hospitals to offer packages to the children,” said Mr Sampath, manager of the Peedam. The temple at Thirumalaikodi, seven kilometers away from Vellore, is a major tourist attraction. Constructed to cover 55,000 sq ft, each and every part of the temple is covered with golden plates, with a total of 15,000 kg of gold being used for the purpose.

“Every day 30,000 to 35,000 devotees are visiting our temple. On Saturdays and Sundays the numbers increase two fold. All the devotees get delicious prasadam,” Mr Sampath added. The founder of the temple, 31-year-old Sri Sakthi Amma is a male. “He came to this place when he was 16 and attained enlightment. Amma has devotees all over the world and doing a great service to the humanity,” Mr Sampath said. After distributing financial assistance to the needy at the temple venue, the chief minister will lay foundation stone for Thiruvalluvar university in Chekkadu.
